Experience from other relays we have researched has shown that having an entire team of walkers is not a good idea. Relay teams should plan on finishing at least at a slow-run pace (about 6 hours for the full; 3 hours for the half).

Make a plan with your teammates as to how you will handle your clothes. We strongly suggest that you do not bring any valuables with you. The exchange zone volunteers cannot be responsible for your stuff. Fortunately, you will have a SAG vehicle to assist with this.

The Relay team packet should be picked up by ONE member of the team. It will not be possible to issue partial packets to single individuals. One person should pick up the packet for the whole team.

As we get close to the event, exchange zone overview packets will be emailed to all teams which highlight each zone and instructions for accessing each zone safely. We will provide driving directions as well so you are able to navigate the city without being held up by the course.

The full marathon relay may have three, four, or five runners. A runner may run more than one leg.

Team members will wear a race number visible on their front. It will be a different color from the full marathon bibs. The team will share one number but each member will have their own bib. Relay runners will each have a timing chip in their bib. There is no need to exchange bibs/chips or any baton.

A runner who wants to enter the Marathon may also be part of a relay team, but must run the first leg, of the course. He or she must also register for each of the events. The RRCA Championship Event Series is the largest grassroots-organized running series in the U.S. with over 200 races participating that attract nearly 300,000 participants. RRCA Championship Events are designated annually at the State, Regional, and National level through a competitive bidding process. The goal of the RRCA Championship Event Series is to celebrate and shine a spotlight on well-run, community-focused events and to award their top performing runners. RRCA provides awards for: Open male and female, 40+ male and female, 50+ male and female, 60+ male and female, open adaptive athlete male and female, and nonbinary upon special request by race organizers.
